Limited to 300 copies signed by Taylor McCall, this is number 89. Accompanied by the original prospectus. Visual artists Mick Taylor and Sheena McCall are closely associated with their friend, Scottish singer-songwriter Donovan, and produced original illustrations for his albums Sunshine Superman (1966) and Mellow Yellow (1967). This collection of 76 exquisite hand-colored psychedelic drawings is accompanied by poetry from Donovan, as well as selections from Edgar Allan Poe, Oliver Goldsmith, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Robert Burns, William Butler Yeats, and others. About half the edition was reportedly lost. Printed on Italian hand made paper, with hand made endpapers by Compton Marbles. Quarto: 103, [1] p. In a one-quarter blue morocco over gold cloth binding, with gilt titles and marbled endpapers. The spine is a touch sun faded; else near fine. Housed in the publisher's slipcase, which is unevenly sun faded. From the library of revered English actor, comedian, musician, and writer Eric Idle, accompanied by a letter of provenance and a special bookmark. Idle (b.1943) is a founding member of the British comedy troupe Monty Python, as well as the parody rock group The Rutles, and is the writer of the music and lyrics for the hit Broadway musical Spamalot.
