This selection of political letters were all published in the run up to the Nottingham election on 30 May 1803.
Following the dissolution of Parliament in 1802, an election was held in Nottingham.

Warren and Mr Joseph Birch were successful, with Daniel Coke was defeated.
Later, the election was declared void after a lack of voting freedom was uncovered, and a by-election arranged for 30 May 1803.
Coke and Birch stood against one another and a vicious 'Paper War' ensued between the two local politicians and their supporters, from which the contents of this work are sourced.
On 30th May, 1803, Mr Coke won the seat with 1359 votes to Mr Birch's 1164.
