In this game I find a tremendous amount of humor, while at the same time I enjoy its beauty, grace and inner-self aspects.
While writing this book, I tried to convey the commonality that we golfers share.
I also wanted to create a new way of communicating about this wonderful game.
A difficult question has always been how do we golfers ever explain our love of the game to non-players? My hope is that, in some small manner, this book will serve part of that purpose.
Golf has provided me with immense pleasure in life.
It has also given me friendships that I shall cherish until my final days.
In conjunction with friendship and pleasure, golf has allowed me to witness the beauty of style, nature, design, art, science and discovery of life's deeper meanings.
As fellow golfers, I'm sure you understand.
Now for the book.
It was fun to write and my hope is that you find some of yourself within.
Don't take the book too seriously or as a scholarly work.
Instead, enjoy the book for the celebration of our sport that it is meant to convey.
Lastly, may we all honor our sport, its history and deep traditions.
Let us affirm to pause during a round and give thanks to this wonderful game.
A game that provides us so much, if we but take a moment to reflect upon its teachings and messages.
