This edition was produced using sheets remaining from those printed in Great Britain by The Whitefriars Press for the 1920 British edition. On arrangement with Brentano’s Booksellers in New York, 675 copies were bound and published in 1925 for sale in the United States of America. Quarto. 11.75 x 9.25 inches. Bradel bound. [12], 150, [1], [1, printer’s colophon] pp. Publisher’s original quarter vellum over grey paper-covered boards. Decorative front board stamped in silver with stylized seashells and waves. Printed white paper pastedown title label in upper right corner of front board. Back board blank. Spine lettering and nautical decoration stamped in gilt. Top edge gilt, other edges untrimmed. Light blue seaweed-patterned endpapers. Ten brilliant color plates, after paintings by Dulac, mounted with gray double-line border on tipped-in pages. Tissue guards printed in black with titles of images. All plates and tissue guards present. Binding sound and square. Spine straight. Backstrip darkened and rubbed, with titles remaining fully legible. Boards edgeworn with corners worn through and soft. Back board rubbed, soiled, and stained. Pages clean and unmarked. Scattered foxing to pages throughout. Creasing to tissue guard for The Pearl of the Bamboo (facing page 46). Otherwise, tissue guards intact. Dulac plates remain bright, vivid, and unblemished.
