Inscribed to the front free endpaper by American actress Jessie Royce Landis, known for her roles in Hitchcock's 'To Catch a Thief' and 'North by Northwest'.
Landis was in the first production of this play, playing the character of Janet Archer, and her inscription reads 'Dear Rudolf, this shows we can both pick a winner - Remember you were one of the first to read it? Bless you - love Royce, Dec- 29 - 1943'.
The play follows two teenage girls who become interested in boys, and the girls' parents who are making more problems rather than solving them.
From the library of Clive Hirschhorn, theatre critic at the Sunday Express from 1966 to 1995, and a noted book collector of 20th century authors, with his collection including all the major works of Fitzgerald, Hemingway, Steinbeck and others.
With Clive's characteristic pencil inscription with his date of acquisition to the upper corner of the front pastedown.
