Nice first edition hardcover in dove grey linen look, paper covered boards with bumped spine ends and sharp tips. 208pp text a tad musty but you really have to stick your nose into it. Original color illustrated dust wrapper has an age-toned backstrip and age-toning on mapped endpapers. 208pp text. Up in the Highlands of Scotland stands the ancient castle of Gulvain, built on the foundations of a celtic fort which now form the dungeons of a castle. To a house on the opposite side of the loch to the castle come a family of four children to spend their summer holidays. Together with friends whom they make during their stay, they set out to explore the entrances to the old passages. Through an unexpected meeting with some French boys they learn that after the battle of Culloaden in 1746 a priest, who wished to escape the soldiers, had used one of these passages, sealing the entrance with a stone and leaving in the concealed cave his vestment-box and chalice. So the adventure begins and the search for the hidden treasure.
