Scarce first edition, first printing in the first state jacket with ""1061"" and price intact. This copy owned by Naomi Madgett who was mentored by Langston Hughes in her youth, with her signature found twice on the front fly/pastedown. Madgett was editor at Lotus Press and was nicknamed ""The Godmother of African-American poetry"". A wonderful association copy. Book is very good plus with moderate edge-wear, a few checkmarks in pencil aside some verses, easily erased if deemed appropriate, some rust and crimping to several pages from paperclips. Jacket is about good, still bright, though edge-worn and with a two inch tear at front panel. Beautiful patterned paper boards, similarly printed jacket, oblong 6mo, 94 numbered pages. Satisfaction guaranteed. Additional photos always available on request. Shipped in a fitted, padded box.
