The Very Good- binding is staple-bound, illustrated paper over boards with a blue paper spine, the front cover shows Chip sitting in a coffee pot hanging on a branch, with red lettering, the rear cover is advertising for The Little Golden Library (42 titles listed). The binding pages show some toning. light edge-wear to the front cover. The binding is tight and the pages are clean, the front hinge has a one and half inch tear at the top, the last page has a three and a half inch rip at the lower spine which does not effect text or illustrations. The lovely color and black-and-white illustrations by Nino Carbe can be found on every page. The book measures 6.7"" wide x 8.0"" tall. One and a half million books were sold in just five months.
