First published by Harcourt in 1934, Grosset & Dunlap struck a deal with Harcourt to re-publish the story at a reduced cost, with reduced royalties, while still using the original plates. This Grosset * Dunlap edition was offered under their Madison Square Books imprint. The DJ uses the same classic artwork as the Harcourt first edition, just that the spine states Grosset & Dunlap. That being said, these vintage Grosset & Dunlap DJs are scarce. As for book, it is about fine. Orange cloth is bright, clean and attractive. Pages and endpapers are clean. The original DJ shows a tiny chip on upper front shoulder, and a small scuff to paper, towards the bottom edge, on rear. About fine in vintage, VG+ Grosset & Dunlap DJ.
