Paper-covered boards with colorful repeat pattern. Blue cloth spine very sunned. Title paste-down on spine also faded and shows wear. Duplicate paste-down label tipped in at inside pack cover is bright yellow and new looking. Deckle-edge pages. Page 367 has a clean tear from the bottom of the page through the margin up to the first lines of the text with no loss. P.O. bookplate on inside front cover. P.O. was Stephen Morgan Etnier, a famous American realistic painter. Book is signed by author on limitation page. Also inscribed to Etnier on title page dated 1929. Laid in is a handwritten letter on blue stationery by Hergesheimer written ,"in Bermuda, 1928". Additionally, laid in are and article about Hergesheimer by Jerome B. Gray and a short piece by Hergesheimer called "Triall by Armes".
