SIGNED BY THOMAS MERTON. Merton neatly signed his name as ""Fr. Louis"" on the preliminary blank page between the front free endpaper and the half-title page. A fine hardcover book in a very good dustjacket. The jacket is whole and intact (including the original $3.50 price) but shows traces of mild shelf wear along its edges and shallow chipping at the foot of the backstrip. The book itself is clean, tight, and unmarked. This is a later printing of the first edition without the statement of ""first edition"" on the copyrighht page. An attractive copy of one of Merton's most popular works, nicely autographed by him.
