New York: The Viking Press, 1934. First edition. Sm 4to. 852 pp. Black cloth with Phoenix vignette in gilt and red on the front board; gilt lettering to the spine. Red topstain. Small owner's bookplate to the top of the front endpaper: at the top of it the owner (Lavela M. Ellis) has written, "Given to me by Freda (sic) L." The book is very good only due to some offsetting to the front pastedown and endpaper and foxing to the bottom and fore edges. The jacket retains the price of $3.75, has some rubbing to the spine and chipping to the top of the spine. Inscribed by Frieda Lawrence on the half-title: "To Dear Mrs. Ellis - who knows all about it - from Frieda Lawrence, Kiowa Ranch, 37." A rare copy inscribed by Frieda.
