The editor has Signed this book on the title page underneath his printed name (See photo).
No other copy of this book is Signed.
And there's a good reason for that.
There isn't another copy of this book for sale anywhere on the Internet.
So once this copy is listed it will be singularly rare on two accounts.
This book is also a First Edition (SD, NAP).
And it is in excellent condition despite being published in 1938.
Clearly it hasn't gotten enough exercise.
Take a look at the photographs.
You can see that the front cover is quite clean, with the exception of a small spot at the center near the bottom edge.
The gilt lettering and design on the front is very bright and unworn.
There is a speck of wear at the top front right-hand corner.
A little light scuffing as well on the bottom edges of the covers, nothing significant.
You can also see that there is slight wear at the spine ends and the spine itself is faded.
The gilt lettering on the spine can be easily read but the brightness is gone.
Finishing up on imperfections there is a slight bump/crease at the bottom left corner of the rear cover (not affecting any of the pages).
Those are probably a lot of unnecessary words.
You should be able to see everything I described in the first three photographs.
This book is square and tight and very solidly bound, perfectly bound in fact.
The pages are in very good condition.
I didn't see even one crease or one dogeared corner.
There aren't any markings or attachments.
This is NOT an ex-library book.
And no one has written their name or anything else on any page.
Finally, the inside covers and all of the pages in the book up to page 195 are very, very clean.
I don't think there's one spot.
On the last page of text in the book, page 196, there is some light spotting (not soiling) at the top margin and down a little bit from there on the right mirroring its opposite page which is the first of 16 glossy pages of photographs.
It is not uncommon for glossy type pages to show a little bit of spotting or foxing which also affects the opposite text page.
In this case there's a patch of it at the top of page 197 and not much after that until the very last photograph on the last page, 212, where again there's a patch of it on the top quarter of the page.
So the interior of the book is not perfect, but it is pretty close.
And the photographs are quite appealing.
There's Crew 1874 and Crew 1882, Football 1885 and 1891 and 1905, 1912, 1919, 1927 and 1932.
All separate photographs of the various teams.
There's also a photograph of the First Wrestling Team 1932.
There's a picture of 'Twenty-seven Football Captains Return On November 6, 1937', all dressed up in their civilian attire.
There's a photo of the Baseball Team 1865 and another for 1882 and 1902 and 1928, 1935 and 1938.
There's one for Track 1891, for Relay 1908, for Cross Country 1926, and for Soccer 1931.
There's a picture of the Basketball Team 1907-08 and the one from 1912-13 and 1917-18.
Tennis Anyone? 1912.
