Chesterman (1894-1983) was a medical missionary for the Baptist Missionary Society that served in Yakusu, Belgian Congo.
Albert Schweitzer (1875-1965) had a multifaceted career as a theologian, philosopher, musician, and humanitarian.
He gained renown for his groundbreaking work as a medical missionary in Africa, founding a hospital in Gabon to serve the local population.
Schweitzer's philosophy of "reverence for life" and his commitment to alleviating human suffering earned him the Nobel Peace Prize in 1952.
