Product Description

Hardcover. Illustrated. Alphabetized thumb tabs at page edges (some wear to tabs). This book written to accompany the mounmental and historic International Exhibition of Modern Art at the Brooklyn Museum in 1926. Dreier (co-founder with Marcel Duchamp and Man Ray of the Société Anonyme in 1920), has inscibed this copy to Karl Knaths (American artist 1891-1971 and participant in the exhibiton) in 1927. The inscription reads "Greetings/To Karl Knaths/from Katherine S. Dreier Pres/Société Anonyme/New York - ?/1927". This copy is very good. Considerable wear to spine base and to lower board corners. The spine is faded. Scattered black ink spots along spine gutter mostly on the rear cover but two on the front. Moderate staining inside rear cover. Overall this is a tight and internally clean copy of an important publication from the 1920s modern art world.
