First UK edition. Originally published in the US by Epstein & Carroll in 1961. Light fading to the top edges of the boards which have a little corner bumping, small dent to the fore edge of the rear panel and a small dent to the surface of the rear panel. Browning to the page edges with light spotting to the fore edges . Previous owner's name and address in pen to the half-title page which has some browning to the left side - similar browning to the final page of the text. The pages are otherwise clean and unmarked. The price-clipped jacket has quite a bit of chipping to the edges with a one inch piece missing from the bottom corner of the front panel. Chipping with some loss at the top and bottom of the spine and the corners. There are a number of small tears and chips along the top edges with pieces missing from the top left corner of the rear panel and the top left corner of the front panel and one inch closed tears at the top of the front panel and the bottom of the rear panel. Seven tape marks to the reverse where the jacket has been reinforced at some time in the past. The rear panel has browning and some scattered spotting. Three small surface nicks to the spine.
