This map has eleven lines of text explaining the map, and stated by the inset is "United States west of Mississippi River Showing political divisions in 1849.
" and is believed to be the first issue.
There was another map printed with twelve lines of text with additional information, but does not have the statement next to the inset.
That map is believed to be the second issue.
Both maps have Stewart Johnston, 1893 imprinted.
Mintz states that only 50 copies were printed, but it is believed that around 200 were actually printed.
