Hill and Wang. New York. 1960. 116 pages. 1st edition 1st printing. STATES: FIRST AMERICAN EDITION SEPTEMBER 1960 on copyright page. This statement is REQUIRED for the 1st printing. 1st issue DJ with $3.00 price intact on flap. Photo of Mr. Wiesel in glasses on rear flap. Black cloth boards with bright silver titles on spine. Minor edge rubbing. Endpapers are bright and clean. Binding and hinges are strong. Small, most faint discoloration to top page edges. DJ shows chipping at corner tips and shallow chipping at foot and crown of DJ backstrip. DJ verso shows a couple of small spots of black ink bleeding through at crown where some touch-up evidently occurred. Adhesive backed bookplate signed by Elie Wiesel is not attached, rather loosely laid in. A very nice copy of the elusive first American edition in first issue DJ with a signed bookplate.
