Norman R. Bergrun, Ringmakers of Saturn. Scotland: Pentland Press, 1986. First Edition and first printing. Octavo, 116 Pages, 7¾ - 9¾"" Tall. Publisher s Blue glossy boards with silver details to the spine. 45 plates, 39 in color. First published in 1986 on the copyright page. Original dust jacket designed by Ann R. Paterson. An extraordinarily uncommon work, the last for both the author and for the legendary Pentland Press of Scottland. In this volume, the highly respected NASA scientist, using data and photo captures from NASA s Voyager I and II, reveals that a 7000 mile long elliptical craft are orbiting the rings of Saturn and are responsible for their creation. In plain terms, Bergrun makes a compelling argument using available data and seems to answer unexplained questions regarding the rings of Saturn. This was of course a very controversial book in its time and it remains so. A beautiful copy, rare in that the Press would burn to the ground after the printing of this book. Note that this is NOT the reprint of this book published in 2011, but a true first printing.
