First Edition (first printing). 8vo. 250pp. Green cloth lettered and ruled in gold at the spine. With a title page decoration, various Thomas Bewick woodcuts, twenty-four captioned photographs and manuscript reproductions, and a multi-panel folding map at the rear. Some toning to the free endpapers, and a dash of spotting to the fore edge. A very good copy in very lightly toned and dust soiled price-clipped dust wrapper, with a tiny enclosed snag to the spine panel. Handsome former owner bookplate laid-in. The author's first significant work, a classic of rural Suffolk life.
