SWEDEN DAYS AT DROTTNINGHOLM BY SWEDISH PRINCESS CHRISTINA 2016 NEAR FINE SLIPCASE. I am pleased to offer a very fine copy of an elegant and rare (at least in the English version in the US) book written about the Swedish Royal Palace at Drottningholm by Princess Christina Mrs. Magnuson. The royal domain of Drottningholm is a world heritage site of the highest order, with its well-preserved palace and extensive parkland, its unique theatre and charming Chinese Pavilion. But it is also, and always has been, a place that queens and kings, princesses and princes through the ages have called home. Princess Christina has loved Drottningholm for a very long time. She has spent Christmas there every year since her childhood and has often been a guest on official and unofficial occasions. Its history, settings and personalities, especially the strong women who have made their mark there, have always fascinated her. In this lavishly illustrated volume she uses individual dates in history as her starting point for bringing royal figures, rooms, details and memories to life. This medium-sized hard cover book (6 x 9 ½ inches 224 pages) was published by Bonnier Fatka of Stockholm dated 2016 and apparently a First Edition. It was prepared in collaboration with Carl Otto Werkelid for the text and Ralf Turander for the photography. The book was translated from the Swedish by Sarah Death. It is bound in decorative paper cover boards with a satin title panel on the cover and contained in an equally elaborate and sturdy slipcase. The full title of the book is Days at Drottningholm and it was written by Princess Christina who is the sister of King Carl Gustaf XVI. This book is lavishly illustrated throughout with glorious color photographs of its extravagant setting and interiors. Condition: This book is in near fine condition. There is some very slight bumping to the bottom corner of the slipcase. The book itself is in pristine condition without wear or blemish.
