Product Description

True first edition and printing. Inscribed and signed by author on front flyleaf: "November 6th, 1964, in New York City - This book is for my friend Don Bevona, who has as much on the ball (bill? bell?) as any man alive, and who will show it in his own good time. With admiration - Les Hemingway". Inlaid is a newspaper trimming about the author's suicide. A Very Good+ hardcover in a Fair dust jacket. The edges of the textblock are tanned, and there's some light bumping to corners of textblock. The text and photo plates are clean and unmarked. The first two pages are glued together in the gutter more closely than other pages, and there some widening the in gutter after these two pages, with a ~1/4 inch rip at the bottom edge of the gutter, giving the front hinge a tiny bit of movement, but is overall firm and robust. The back hinge is firm. Binding good. Hardcover boards' corners lightly turned inwards, with fabric fraying. Fabric frayed at top of spine. The jacket is housed a Demco mylar sleeve, which is slightly oversized but functions well. There are sizable chunks of the jacket missing on the top of the spine and top-back edge, with smaller chunks missing at corners and bottom of spine. Despite these issues, the jacket is still structurally intact (not ripped through or repaired). Jacket rubbed along edges, with small rips and chips. There's a small hole in the center of the fore edge of the jacket.
