This book was published to mark the centenary of the Edinburgh University Athletic Club.
Sir Edward Appleton writes in his foreword: ".
here is a chapter of our own University history, a record of the prowess of our students, generations after generation, in sports and games.
" It includes chapters on athletics, the boat club, boxing, cricket, cycling, fencing, golf, hare and hounds, hockey, rugby, shinty, swimming and water polo, and tennis.
A supplement contains details on the Edinburgh University Women's Athletic Club.
The book is bound in the original blue cloth covered boards with a paper title label on the spine.
The case of the book is in very good condition with bumping to the spine ends and the contents are tight and clean with no inscription.
The unclipped dustwrapper has some shelf wear with light soiling and the spine is faded.
The bottom of the spine is lightly bumped and the top of the spine is more heavily bumped with small tears that have been repaired on the reverse with tape.
