Additionally included is a 2pg handwritten letter discussing business matters addressed to Godfrey Barnsley (1805-1873), a British-American business man and cotton broker who prior to the Civil War became one of the wealthiest men in the American South.
In the 1840's Barnsley began building a large estate and gardens on a 10,000 acre plot (now known as Barnsley Gardens in Adairsville, Georgia) for his wife Julia Scarborough, who tragically died before it completion in 1845 from tuberculosis.
