Description

GRAY, Alasdair. Original screenprint titled Lanark Book Two . Glasgow: Glasgow Print Studio 2015. The author describes this screenprint as: a redrawing of the first great illustrated study of human anatomy Day Humani Corporis Fabrica, published by Andreas Vesalius in 1543. My only change was to put the Glasgow University s coat of arms into the medallion at the top, because when I was drawing it, I was writer in residence there. Printed in an edition of 60 copies in black, yellow, red, pink, blues and brown inks on Somerset Satin White 300gsm deckle-edged paper, this copy being a printer's proof, with handwritten in pencil beneath image left by the artist: 'PP Alasdair Gray . Glasgow Print Studio chop mark to bottom right corner. Image size: 58cm x 34cm; Paper size: 75cm x 54cm. Unframed. Fine condition. Note: This print is a revisited version of the Lanark artwork - and the lithographic prints made at Glasgow Print Studio in the early 1980s. This is an illustration to mark Book Two.
