Description

Published by Hutchinson, 1974. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. First edition, first impression. The joint winner of the Booker Prize for 1974 and one of the very scarcest of all Booker Prize titles rarely seen signed. Signed by the author with the books opening line inscribed on the title page. Rare Booker Prize band. Firm and square binding in sharp blue cloth; bright silver lettering to the spine; endpapers crisp and clean. The unclipped, first state dustwrapper (£2.75 net stated) is bright and vibrant without fading a beautiful copy archived since publication. To our knowledge, no other copy exists in this condition and with this inscription. This comes with a print measuring 390mm x 340 mm of Stanley Middleton's watercolour painting of the town of Bealthorpe, the setting for his Booker Prize-winning novel Holiday which is hand signed by him. Oak Tree Fine Press has in the past published a limited edition of the author's work, and he also generously signed a number of his books, this included, to assist in our efforts. The provenance of the signature is thus guaranteed. Many other rare signed Booker titles can be found at our store
