This is the rare oversized first edition, which first appeared in 1921, of "Howard Pyle's Book of Pirates". It's a 1930 printing of this edition, which has an extra story and about 70 additional illustrations that are missing from the other editions, which is what makes this edition particularly sought after. Plus the pictures and text are in the public domain, so they're free to use. The book's large size provides higher quality images. Howard Pyle was one of the great illustrators of his time and this book is the source of many of the best pirate images out there. You often see them on other pirate book covers, ads, and posters. I used one on the cover of my book "Captured by Pirates". Aside from the expected age tanning of the paper, the interior is in near fine condition. The cover has some visible wear and aging, but is intact and strong. It's in very good condition. It also has its rare dust jacket, which is in a clear Mylar protective cover. It has some large chips and tears, particularly on the spine, but is still in good condition. Abe is unable to correctly determine shipping, so it might be different depending on where you are and how quickly you want it. Please email me your town and zip code so I can calculate it. Because of its large size, it will require addition packing material to protect it. It's also quite heavy. I used to sell these for $300.00. I sold about half a dozen or more at that price. This is the one I kept for my personal collection and it's the last one I have. I've priced it low in order to sell it quickly. You should get it before it's gone.
