Description

Quarto. A GORGEOUS 1989 Limited Edition Signed by Motherwell without inscription on the half-title page. AND also signed and inscribed in blue marker by the French Poet and author, Marcelin Pleynet, in blue ink above Motherwell's signature. This edition also features an original Motherwell lithograph bound in as the frontispiece. The signature in this volume is an actual live ink Motherwell signature, in addition to the 'signed in type' signature on the lithograph. This particular copy also features, laid in, two invitations to Motherwell exhibition receptions. The first is an invitation by the French Ambassador to the U.S. to a reception in New York City in March, 1990, likely when these signatures were given, as Pleynet has dated his inscription in March, 1990. The second invitation is laid inside a greeting card featuring a Motherwell painting for an exhibition in February, 1990 in Mount Kisco, NY. This edition is number 2197 of 7000 issued, but extremely scarce signed by Motherwell. Grey cloth. Square Tight Binding. Clean interior. Dust jacket Fine. Red slipcase included, also in Fine condition. A stunning and one-of-a-kind Motherwell collectible.
