Product Description

NO SECRET IS SAFE BEHIND THE BAMBOO CURTAIN BY FR.
MARK TENNIEN 1952 1ST DJ INSCRIBED.
I am going to continue with the new listings I mentioned I would feature in the coming months.
Please find another: No Secret is Safe Behind the Bamboo Curtain by Father Mark Tennien of Maryknoll.
Father Tennien was a Maryknoll missionary to China for more than 20 years.
This is his second book; the first was titled: Chungking Listening Post .
This small hard cover book (5 ¾ x 8 ¼ inches 270 pages) was published by Farrar-Straus & Young of New York dated 1952 and the First Edition.
The book is bound in red boards with black titles on the spine and protected by a printed paper dust jacket.
This book is inscribed by Father Tennien and signed in both English and Chinese.
Laid-in at the front endpaper is a newspaper clipping of Father Tennien s death notice (undated).
The book includes a sixteen page section of b&w photos at page 150 and a few diagrams of church facilities.
Condition: This book is in very good condition.
The dust jacket shows a good deal of light edge wear particularly along the top edge.
The hard covers are a bit dust-dulled and show some wear to the finish at the spine tips and along the bottom edge.
The newspaper clipping has left a darkened spot on the front endpaper where it was placed.
The author s inscription is the only mark I found in the book and the interior pages are clean and bright throughout.
There is one page that was inproperly cut when opened leaving small tags.
Both hinges are intact, and the binding is tight and sound.
There is a former owner s label on the rear endpaper.
This book is not ex-library or a remainder.
