Description

In hardback Illustrated with photographs THIS IS much more than the record of a pilot's impressions of more than two dozen from among well- and little-known British and American aircraft of World War Two. Because the narratives-apart from the prologue, which sets the scene, and the epilogue —are arranged chronologically from the out- break of war in 1939, they provide the reader with the inside story, sometimes humorous and even sardonic, of the little-known world of the pilots, Service and civilian, who ferried these aircraft and tested them at RAF maintenance units and factories. The individual ""case histories"" which form the bulk of the book have been based, with some essential modifications and additions, on a series of articles written by the author for Air-BP magazine and published between 1960 and 1968.
