Two-tone brown buckram with gilt spine titles and animal head decorations to front covers; 4to; 3115pp in 4 volumes; top edges gilt, others untrimmed; illustrated with engraved frontispieces, 1500 b/w photos, drawings and line cuts plus 50 maps by the author; published over a 4-year span in an edition of 177 numbered (#4) copies and signed by Seton on the frontispiece of volume one.
Consists of volume I: Cats, Wolves & Foxes (1925) 640pp; volume II: Bears, Coons Badgers, Skunks, Weasels, (1926) 746pp; volume III: Hoofed Mammals; (1927) 780pp; volume IV: Rodents, etc.

In volume IV publisher's name changed to Doubleday Doran.
This set is in G to VG condition with normal handling use, light cover wear; rear hinge to volume II partially cracked; occasional page smudge o/w in very good condition overall with most pages quite bright & clean.
Bears the bookplate of sportsman William Nicholas Beach on pastedowns of each volume.
