Signed and dated in the year of publication by the author with a dedication to a former teacher 'from his old pupil.' The front panel of the boards has some light surface discolouration and a little creasing near the bottom right corner. The rear panel has a small surface tear near the left edge and a few light surface marks. The bottom corners of the boards are quite heavily bumped. Browning to the page edges with a little dark marking to the bottom corners. Browned to the endpapers and there are a few light spots to the pages which are otherwise generally clean and unmarked. No jacket. First printing.
