Almost appears to have been in a vault since 1962.
Far and away the nicest copy of this title I've handled.
Exceptionally clean, tight, and square.
Large gift inscription on the colophon page (first page after front free endpaper) mentioning that Steinbeck had won the Nobel Prize that week.
Depending on whether that meant when the award was announced or when the presentation was made, it was either in October or December 1962.
No visible wear anywhere on the book, extremely clean.
The dust jacket appears to be as pristine as the book.
First issue dust jacket with no mention of Nobel prize.
Very slight darkening of spine and a couple of almost imperceptible spots of wear, still fine.
The only flaw worth mentioning is a price clip.
