Product Description

First Edition/Stated First Printing in the First State/First Variant Dust Jacket; A Very Good book in a Good or better dust jacket.
A well-preserved copy of this classic work of WWII fiction, winner of the 1948 Pulitzer Prize; this copy in the first state/first variant dust jacket with the front flap machine clipped both top and bottom and the $3.00 price running vertically at the top corner (Wehmeyer, p.
369).
This copy is in very good condition showing some light rubbing to the edges, faint soiling and spotting to the text block and free papers, a previous owner's bookplate to the front pastedown (mostly obscured by the front flap), and a general mild foxing to the pages (common for the title).
Housed in a clean and bright good or better jacket that shows rubbing and chipping to the spine ends, edges, and corners with one larger chip to the top of the back panel near the spine, a few scattered rubs to the front panel, and a few closed tears to the edges.
Overall, a highly collectible copy of an important work of 20th Century Literature; scarce in the first variant jacket.
Not remaindered, not price-clipped, not ex-library; in a protective Mylar cover and will ship securely wrapped in a sturdy box.
