Octavo, 158pp. Corners gently bumped, but overall a crisp, clean, near fine copy in a very good dust jacket, with shallow tears to the extremities. This copy SIGNED and INSCRIBED by Hoover on the front free endpaper: ""For Charles L. Gould with personal regards J. Edgar Hoover 3. 7. 69."" This book, published just three years before the FBI Director's death, is less common signed than some of his other books. Gould might be the publisher of the San Francisco Examiner. An earlier typed letter SIGNED by Hoover (as just ""Edgar"") is laid in. The letter is addressed to one Thomas Good of Washington, DC. Dated December 24, 1963, Hoover thanks Good and his wife for the ""beautiful poinsetta"" they sent. The letter is upbeat and jolly, which may or may not come as a surprise to anyone who notices that it was written just a month after the Kennedy assassination.
