Collated, complete.Featuring the striking drawings, carried out by British artist Rex Whistler, for A. E. W. Mason's historical novel Konigsmark. With an introduction and the story in brief by Laurence Whistler, derived from the novel.From the library of Michael Mounsey (1905-1984) was a wood engraver and photographer. Born in Sunderland in Durham, Mounsey studied English but his main interest was in the arts. He worked at Stowe School teaching Art and Art History from 1948 1965. He was a private man, brought up as a Quaker which influenced his work and private life. After retirement, he returned to a village near Appleby in Cumbria. He exhibited at the Royal Academy in the 20s and 30s. In the original cloth binding, with the original glassine. Preserved in the original cloth-backed slipcase, with title label to the front. Externally, very smart, with minor damp spots to the cloth and minor shelf wear. Glassine is split into two, with chips and edge wear, lacking backstrip. Slipcase is rubbed and slightly faded. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean, with spotting to the endpapers. Very Good Indeed
