Description

First Edition (NAP). Once listed, this will be the Only copy of this book for sale anywhere on the Internet. And remarkably, it still has its original dust jacket. I had a fitted protective cover on the jacket for all the years that I have owned the book. I've rated the condition of both the book and the jacket Very Good, giving some reasonable leeway with regard to their age. You can see the covers of the book in the last couple of photos. They are mostly clean. There is one small spot on the front and one even smaller on the rear. The label on the spine is in very good shape. It does have some toning. The only wear of note is a teeny tiny tear at the top edge of the spine. There is also some crinkling at both spine ends. The cover edges and corners are in very good shape, surprisingly there is no rubbing. The page edges look good with just some tiny spots of receded spotting. I turned over all the pages in the book and so can say with confidence that the binding is solid. There are no cracks or spaces between any of the facing pages. Both the front and rear cover are nicely tight. There are seven small tan spots of foxing on the front inside cover, a dozen on the blank first front end paper. There is a similar pattern on the rear inside cover and rear end paper, small spots. The rear side of the second blank front end paper and the half-title page facing it have the same amber-colored thin line coming up from the bottom edge and crossing over to the middle edge. The title page looks very good, the copyright page has three spots of foxing. The first page of the introduction has a couple as well. Generally speaking, the pages look very good, not at all their age, not toned. However, around 1/4 of the pages have one or two small spots of that amber or tan coloring that we call foxing. And there are two instances (facing pages) where two thin amber lines come up from the bottom edge of the page across to the middle edge. I didn't see any creasing on any the pages. There is a very light and small crinkle that can be seen in the same place on a number, nothing much of anything. There are no markings in the book. There are no attachments of any kind. And no one has written their name or anything else anywhere. You can see the dust jacket in the first few photos. The front and rear cover are in very nice condition. There is a speck-sized loss at the front top corner. The spine is toned and has the two relatively small losses at its spine ends. It also has a thin horizontal tear a little ways up from the publisher's name. The price of the book is on the spine, not the front flap. The verbiage you usually see on the front flap is on the rear cover (I have a feeling the 'father of public relations,' Mr. Lee, made that decision. The flaps are hence blank. They are also very clean and in very good shape. As mentioned earlier, the jacket is protected by a fitted cover. You can read about the book from the photo on the rear cover. 'Ivy Ledbetter Lee was an...
