William Joseph Schaldach (1896-1982) was a writer on art and outdoor sporting, editor for Field and Stream, and most notably an important American wildlife artist. The original watercolor offered here is one of his earliest works, probably done while he was studying at the Art Students League under John Sloan and George Bridgman. In addition to his signature (""W. J. Schaldach '19"") at the lower right of the image, there also is included a piece of craft paper with the following written in pencil by the artist: ""Central American Boa-Constrictor Study from live specimen. March 1919--W. J. Schaldach."" The image is 3 inches by 7 1/4 inches and is matted 10 1/8"" X 13"" and shrink-wrapped. The watercolor study is clean and bright. Size: 3"" X 7 1/4""
