Nice first edition hardcover in brown cloth covered boards with light color loss to painted white spine label (remains legible). Spine ends lightly bumped, tips still sharp, board fore-edges have a strange mark in the color but there is no water damage found, 400pp text is crisp, tight and clean with very light foxing on edge of page block. Original cream background dust jacket has a brown line drawing of a retriever on frt panel and green authors/title on cover and spine along with other dog portraits on backstrip. Lower frt flap clipped, but price remains visible. Jacket shows light soil and is complete, displays well in new mylar. Illustrated endpapers show a lounging greyhound and a bit of age-toning from dj flaps. An exhaustive volume that covers a multitude of topics relating to man's best friend.
