First edition of Ms. Rawling's first book, with the Scribner's A. Not first issue, as indicated by the length of the alligator described on page 184, which was reduced from thirty feet to twenty after the first three thousand copies. The book has a tiny bit of shelfwear at bottom of spine and a faint but visible light spot on the otherwise bright blue topstain. There appears to be a bit of soiling or foxing along the top edge of the boards. The DJ is even better than the book with very minor edgewea, no chips or tears. Some bleeding of color through the jacket can be seen on the back side of the jacket, completely invisible on the outside. Overall exceptionally bright and clean, with the $2.00 price intact. Boldly signed in pencil onthe front free endpaper by Ms. Rawlings. A letter of provenance from the family of the original owner, a neighbor and friend of Rawlings, is included.
