Murdoch was a co-founder of the Golf Collector's Society, owned a massive golf library and wrote this book, the first modern golf bibliography.
Much more than just a listing, he explores the history of golf and golf literature, the authors, the collectors, the scarce and the common books, including early obscure books with perhaps only brief mentions of the game.
Many of the listings have biographies of the authors and/or comments on the title listed.
For example, Bernard Darwin's listing uses five pages for two dozen books.
What also makes the volume useful as a reference tool is that the Bibliography is followed by a Chronological Listing of the same books, then an Alphabetical Listing of same, and finally a listing by Subject Matter of same.
One of the most enjoyable and informative books in the library of golf and a must for all serious golf book collectors in any genre.
