Top edge yellow, 255[1]pp, with original unclipped dust jacket designed by John Minton and priced at 15s. net. Clean boards with just a hint of toning to the titles on the spine. Firm corners and just a hint of pushing to the foot of the spine. Internally clean, without name, inscription or bookplate and just a touch of toning and spotting to the fore edge of the text block. The dust jacket, which is now protected in a removable clear cover (not shown), and presents well. It is a little toned and marked in the white areas particularly on the rear panel. The spine tips and corners are a little rubbed with minimal loss and a couple of closed tears with associated light creasing. All in all a very good looking 1st Edition copy of this influential novel that focussed on homosexuality at a time when is was still illegal in the UK. Goff was later influential as administrator of the Booker Prize and was key in making it possibly the most influential literary award in the UK.
