A framed title page from the 1st American hardcover edition of The Sign of the Book SIGNED by the late John Dunning. It has been removed from the book, protected in an off-white, acid-free mat and professionally framed in a vintage frame behind UV-protective, non-glare glass. The title, subject matter, central character and author of this book combine to make a particularly appealing and appropriate wall-hanging for the home of any book collector. The Sign of the Book is from a series of five biblio-mysteries penned by Dunning, a book-dealer-turned-author. The series features Denver cop-turned-book-dealer, Cliff Janeway, who can't resist poking into police investigations involving collectible books. The outside dimensions of the frame are 16 3/4 x 14 3/4 inches, and it dates from the mid-century. It is not a recently manufactured, faux-antique frame. It is fitted with a wire for hanging, and the reverse side bears a sticker attesting to the UV-protective glass. The buyer will be asked to pay the actual cost of postage, and a Canadian buyer will be charged applicable taxes.
