4to, pp [64], printed in red and black throughout, with illustrations of chidren at play and 'archaic' style page decorations throughout, and including musical texts with piano accompaniments, original decorated blue cloth, black endpapers, a near fine copy, FIRST EDITION; this example of Victorian mediaevalism shows influence of 'aesthetic movement' art and is quite attractive in its way.
The author was Irish and born in 1835 and in 2015 an illustrated manuscript collection of 'Dwarf Stories' by her appeared at auction, demonstrating her abilities as an artist of fantasy images.
