Moderate general wear, some loss at the crown, light dampstain on topedge slightly affecting very top margin of a few pages, hinges tender and starting in a couple of places but neatly strengthened, about very good in a worn and chipped, good only dust jacket.
The Dedication Copy, Inscribed on the half-title to Caroline Gordon and Allen Tate: "The dedicatrix & dedicator to the dedicatees / with all love from Biala - Ford Madox Ford.

" The printed dedication reads: "To Caroline Gordon / who chronicles another South / and to Allen Tate / Who came to Provence and there wrote to 'That Sweet Land' the poem called 'The Mediterranean' and where we went in the boat was a long bay.

According to the index, Tate appears eight times in the text.
*Provence* was published in late March of 1935, a few days before this copy was inscribed for Gordon and Tate.
