Product Description

Gordon Parks' elusive 2nd book, WARMLY INSCRIBED BY HIM at the foot of the title page. A solid, very presentable copy to boot of the 1948 1st edition. Tight and VG to VG+ in a bright, price-clipped, VG dustjacket, with very light chipping and several small closed tears along the panel edges. Still though, very presentable. With 45 full-page photogravure portraits of people such as Ralph Ellison, Henry Fonda, Edward Steichen, Margaret Bourke-White, etc. (From The New York Times: "The first African-American to work as a staff photographer for Life magazine and the first black artist to produce and direct a major Hollywwod film [Shaft], Gordon Parks was ranked among the most influential image makers of the postwar years"). Scarce inscribed.
