The Canadian priest and poet, Frederick George Scott (1861-1944) volunteered for war service at the age of 53.
He served in France and Flanders from 1914 until the Armistice.
His memoir was published as "The Great War As I Saw It".
An Anglican priest and Canadian poet, he was regarded as the "Poet of the Laurentians" and was associated with the Confederation Poets.
He was a confidant, friend and spiritual guide to many generals, officers and enlisted men during the First World War.
In the Summer of 1943, during the Quebec Conference, Canon Scott was invited by Churchill and Roosevelt to a private meeting where he read some of his poetry.
Nicknamed "Holy Reggie" by his sailors, Sir Reginald Godfrey Otway Tupper (1859-1945) was a Royal Navy Officer of the late Victorian period who served in the First World War.
He served in numerous significant commands and in 1915, following the outbreak of the First World War, he was given command of the patrol area around the West Coast of Scotland and subsequently took over command of the Northern Patrol in 1916 and was promoted to vice admiral.
Tupper was promoted to admiral after the war and appointed Commander-in-Chief, Western Approaches based in Queenstown in Southern Ireland, a post he held through the Irish War of Independence.
