Dana Andreev ""Sweet Idea"" titled, signed, numbered etching 1/20 dated 1985 plate impression7 1/4 x 9 1/4 ins overall 11 x 15 ins Andreyev who nowadays goes under the surname Andreev, is a Polish artist, living and working in the Netherlands. Dana Andreev (1951, Warsaw) comes from a family of painters and sculptors; Even as a child, visual art is second nature to her and she also shows a unique skill in the rest of her life. She graduated cum laude from the Graphics Faculty of the Warsaw Academy of Art and quickly gained fame in her native Poland for her film posters – Poland has a rich history in the design of film posters. ? After the political situation and the lack of freedom of her motherland forced her to flee, she settled in the Jordaan in Amsterdam in 1982. Many years of foreign homelands followed, including the United States and France, but eventually Amsterdam and the Netherlands had become a new home. ? In all her works there is a center, Dana observes man in all his emotions; she does not seek contact with the people portrayed, but consciously keeps her distance. That keeps the enchantment, wonder and first impression going. Her direction is also strongly determined by technology; Dana has developed her own graphic processes and is also open to new techniques. Another example of her penchant for innovation is her collaboration with the Porceleyne Fles in Delft. She designed and painted a series of ceramic and Delft blue plates for them. ? Dana also exhibited at PrintShop/Galerie Clement, Galerie Rademakers, Galerie Chiron, Art Works in Amsterdam, Galerie Raster in Utrecht, Galerie Art Options in Wijk bij Duurstede, SBK Kennemerland in Haarlem, CBK in Haarlem, Galerie K+A in Leiden , SBK Gooi and Eemer in Hilversum, Galerie van Hulsen in Leeuwarden, Museum Waterland in Purmerend, Galerie Kunst 2001 in Badhoevedorp, Galerie Hofman & vd Zee in Alphen a/d Rijn, Galerie Groeneveld in Almelo, L'Espace Bateau Lavoir in Paris, Galerie Bozar in Antwerp, Galerie AE in Gothenburg.
