First Edition signed by author Erling Rolfsrud and polar explorer Sir Hubert Wilkins of this biography of early Arctic aviator Carl Ben Eielson -- best known for piloting for Wilkinsthe first Alaska to Europe over the North Pole in 1928. Has a particular focus on the famous Point Barrow, Alaska to Spitzbergen flight with Wilkins, but also covers numerous notable flights in the career one of the most acclaimed pioneers of Alaska and Arctic aviation. Signed by Erling Rolfsrud and Hubert Wilkins on the half title page (with Wilkins signing as ""Tokyo,"" a nickname, beneath the inscription ""To awaken old memories"".) Cloth, 181 pages, illustrated. Includes a number of extended pencil notes by a previous owner quite knowledgeable about the 1928 flight and eager to inject additional information or point out a shortcoming in the author's narrative. Among the notes is one about Wilkins and the nickname Tokyo on the half title page. This previous owner had been a radio operator in Alaska in the World War II era.
