Octavo, 309pp. Presumed first printing, with no statement. A very good copy in the publisher's red cloth, with the spine cocked, some rubbing to board edges, but the contents clean and sound. In a very good dust jacket, gently rubbed and smudged, with a stain to the verso of the front panel. This copy SIGNED and warmly INSCRIBED by Koch on the title page in the year after publication: ""To Natalie with love and lots of thanks, Kenneth. Nola Studios 1971."" Koch, a genre-defying poet, took an interest in teaching middle and high school kids to write poetry, and started programs of this kind in schools on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. The idea took off, and this book contains many examples of the poems those kids wrote. His teaching technique has been the model for nationwide programs of a similar kind. Uncommon signed.
